Lee, Mr Frank

Mr Lee is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He joined RNOH a year ago as a linked post between the two Hospitals.  The former being a Major Trauma Centre receiving patients with multiple injuries including spinal trauma; and RNOH being an internationally renowned Orthopaedic Centre and one of the national spinal cord injury centres. 

He won a place to read Medicine at the University of Cambridge in 1986.  He received specialist training in Urology in London during which he undertook research on Overactive Bladder. He received sub-specialty training in Female, Reconstructive and Neuro-Urology at the Institute of Urology. He was appointed Consultant Urological Surgeon to St. George’s Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer to St George’s University of London in 2004.

He was Head of Department between 2008 to 2011. At St George’s, he introduced the use of Botulinum toxin for Overactive and Neurogenic Bladder patients. He provides surgical care to patients with urinary incontinence and bladder problems. 

He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s University of London.  He was a Personal Tutor and Responsible Examiner for Penultimate Year OSCE; Educational and Clinical Supervisor to Urology trainees.   

He is a reviewer for National Institute for Health Research.  He was an examiner for Section 1, Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in Urology.  He sat on the Medical Advisory Committee for the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus UK. 

He has an active medico-legal practice.  He receive regular instructions from Legal 500 firms representing Claimants and Defendants like NHS Litigation Authority and the medical defence societies.

Research interests:

His research interests include patients with Spina Bifida and spinal cord injury, their long term outcome and quality of life.
